Adam Khalek

Retirement Consulting Investment Associate - Retirement Consulting Services

Adam joined Commonwealth in June 2020 as a retirement consulting investment associate. In this role, he fields advisor inquiries about investment oversight best practices. He also acts as a liaison for Commonwealth’s retirement plan investment platform and associated resources, tools, and vendor relationships. Prior to joining Commonwealth, Adam worked as an invoicing coordinator for iPROMUTEu and as an accounting assistant for Divine Stoneworks. He earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Framingham State University. In his spare time, Adam enjoys playing the guitar, producing music, watching sports, hiking, and traveling to new places.

Alex Lauretti

Retirement Consulting Services Analyst - Retirement Consulting Services

Alex joined Commonwealth in August 2017 and now works as a retirement consulting services analyst. In this role, he assists the team in optimizing its operational procedures, develops process automation department-wide, and contributes to various projects. He also serves as a resource for our advisors and works with our recordkeeper partners. Alex graduated from Colgate University with a BA in mathematics and a minor in economics. While attending Colgate, he played on the varsity rugby team. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer, hockey, and tennis. Some of Alex’s other interests include watching the Boston Bruins, snowboarding, and listening to classic rock.

Allen Cohen

Retirement Consultant - Retirement Consulting Services

Allen joined Commonwealth in May 2015 as a retirement consultant. In this role, he provides technical and strategic business support for advisors working with individual IRAs, employer-sponsored IRA plans, and employer-sponsored qualified plans. He has been in the financial services industry for more than 20 years and worked at State Street Bank, CitiStreet, and ING/VOYA before joining Commonwealth. Allen graduated from Bates College with a BA in English and holds his FINRA Series 6 and 63 securities registrations. In his spare time, he enjoys playing tennis and skiing. He is also a lifelong Red Sox fan and a season-ticket holder.

Chris Lydon

Retirement Consulting Investment Associate - Retirement Consulting Services - San Diego Team

Chris joined Commonwealth in July 2016 as a transfer of assets analyst and was promoted to level II analyst in March 2019. In September 2019, he joined the Retirement Consulting Services team as a retirement consulting investment associate. In this role, he fields advisor inquiries about investment oversight best practices. He also acts as a liaison for Commonwealth’s retirement plan investment platform and associated resources, tools, and vendor relationships. Prior to joining Commonwealth, Chris worked at Zenefits in Phoenix, Arizona, as a support specialist. He attended Gonzaga University, where he earned a BA in business administration with a concentration in economics. In his free time, Chris enjoys watching and playing sports. He also loves to travel; his goal is to visit all seven continents.

Dan Collins

Retirement Marketing Program Manager - Retirement Consulting Services

Dan is the retirement marketing program manager on the Retirement Consulting Services team. In this role, Dan is responsible for creating advisor-facing marketing and prospecting content and communications, as well as collaborating with the Marketing team to develop retirement plan participant education campaigns and collateral. Dan joined Commonwealth in December 2012 as a retirement sales consultant and later became a business development consultant. Dan has been in the 401(k) industry since 2000 and previously held positions with MFS Investment Management, Sun Life, and the Hartford. He studied management at Eastern Nazarene College and Bridgewater State University. Outside of the office, Dan enjoys taking day excursions with his family; playing, watching, and coaching sports; and jamming on the guitar in a basement band with his over-the-hill buddies.

Jeff Gillette

Retirement Consultant - Retirement Consulting Services

Jeff joined Commonwealth in February 2020 as a retirement consultant. In this role, he provides technical and strategic business support to advisors working with individual IRAs, employer-sponsored IRA plans, and employer-sponsored qualified plans. Prior to joining Commonwealth, Jeff worked as a senior relationship manager at EPIC RPS. Before that, he was a senior retirement plan consultant with The CIP Group/Davinci Capital Management. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor’s degree in political science and history (pre-law) and then went on to earn his Massachusetts Life, Accident, and Health license. He currently holds the FINRA Series 7 and 66 securities registrations. In his free time, Jeff enjoys playing golf, hiking, and traveling. He is also an avid reader and has made it a goal to read every Pulitzer Prize winner in fiction.

John Peters

Mgr., Retirement Consulting Services - Retirement Consulting Services - San Diego Team

John joined Commonwealth in March 2011 as a business development consultant. In his current role as senior business development consultant, he consults with advisors on business development, product options, sales strategies, competitive positioning, and best practices related to building a successful retirement book of business. John also assists advisors and home office personnel with compliance and responds to technical support questions on retirement-related topics. Prior to joining Commonwealth, John worked at Cafaro Greenleaf, where he was actively involved in sales/marketing and client service to plan sponsors nationwide. He was also recognized as one of the Top 300 Most Influential Advisors in Defined Contribution by 401kWire in 2009 and 2010. Prior to that, he worked at a subsidiary of the Bank of New York/Mellon, and was president of Sterne Agee Asset Management and vice president of Alex Brown and Sons Incorporated. John holds FINRA Series 7, 63, and 65 securities registrations, the Certified Financial Services Coach certificate, as well as the CFP® and AIF® designations. He is currently working to earn the International Coaching Federation (ICF) designation. John graduated from Emory University in Atlanta. In his free time, John enjoys traveling; some of his favorite destinations are France, Argentina, and New York City. As a recipient of a Certificat de Cuisine from Le Cordon Bleu cooking school in Paris, he also enjoys creating culinary experiments at home and exploring new places around the country.

Karen DiStasio

VP, Retirement Consulting Services - Retirement Consulting Services

Karen joined Commonwealth in June 2017 as director of the Retirement Consulting Services team. In February 2019 she was promoted to Vice President, Retirement Consulting Services.In this role Karen is responsible for leading the strategic direction of the Retirement Consulting team and ensuring our advisors have the highest levels of product, services, and support available as they compete in the retirement plan marketplace. Karen has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services and retirement plan industry. She has held various marketing and business development roles at Fidelity Investments, Putnam Investments, New York Life Retirement Plan Services, and, most recently, John Hancock Retirement Plan Services. She attended Smith College and graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a concentration in marketing. In her spare time, Karen enjoys reading for pleasure, tending to her perennial garden, spending time at York Beach and Little Sebago Lake with her three children, and playing fetch with her newest family member Diesel, a long-haired German shepherd.

Mat Powers

Mgr., Retirement Consulting Investment Services - Retirement Consulting Services

Mat joined Commonwealth in September 2014. In his current role as manager of retirement consulting investment services, Mat directs Commonwealth’s plan investment services. This includes Commonwealth’s 3(38) fiduciary plan service, PlanAssist Investment Management. Mat’s team also manages the Retirement Plan Investment Recommended List and acts as a primary liaison for retirement plan advisors who have questions or issues regarding investment oversight practices. Prior to joining Commonwealth, Mat worked at Fidelity Investments, BNP Paribas, and Loomis Sayles. Mat has a master’s degree in investment management and a bachelor’s degree in information management, holds the AIF® designation, and is a CFA® charterholder. Outside of the office, Mat enjoys spending as much time as possible with his wife, two sons, and daughter.

Michael Clifford

Mike joined Commonwealth in April 2010 as a retirement operations specialist and in April 2015 transitioned to the Retirement Consulting Services team as a retirement consultant. In this role, he provides technical and strategic business support for advisors working with individual IRAs, employer-sponsored IRA plans, and employer-sponsored qualified plans. Prior to joining Commonwealth, Mike worked at Putnam Investments as a client support administrator. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell with a BS in business management, with a concentration in marketing and management. In his free time, he enjoys watching, playing, and trying out different sports. Mike also enjoys traveling, movies, and cooking.

Michael Geraci

Sup., Retirement Consulting Investment Services - Retirement Consulting Services - San Diego Team

Michael joined Commonwealth in February 2014 as a qualified plan sales consultant. In February 2016, he was promoted to relationship manager, retirement consulting investment platform. In that role, he strategically developed and managed the due diligence process for the retirement plan investment recommended list. This entailed ensuring coverage across key asset classes and share classes for mutual funds, comingled trusts, stable value products, and target-date portfolios. In February 2019, Michael was promoted to senior product manager and will continue to work with our external partners and expand his involvement with PlanAssist Investment Management. Michael will continue to manage the retirement plan investment recommended list, the associated due diligence process working closely with Commonwealth’s Investment Management team, and performing investment selection for the PlanAssist Investment Management program. Prior to Commonwealth, he worked at John Hancock in the Investments and Retirement Plan Services divisions. Michael began his career with Fidelity Investments in brokerage trading. He holds FINRA Series 7, 6, and 63 securities registrations; the CRPC®, AIF®, CIMA®, and 401(k) Administrator designations; and a Massachusetts life/variable insurance license. Michael graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and holds a master of science in finance from Brandeis University. He also attended Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management, earning a certificate in executive leadership. In his free time, Michael enjoys working out, playing lacrosse, skiing, skateboarding, and spending time with his family and friends.

Mike Triana

Mike joined Commonwealth in May 2011 as a retirement operations specialist and was promoted to team lead in May 2014. In February 2017, Mike transitioned to the Retirement Consulting Services team as a retirement consultant. In this role, he provides technical and strategic business support for advisors working with individual IRAs, employer-sponsored IRA plans, and employer-sponsored qualified plans. Mike earned a degree in economics from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, with a concentration in management. Before joining Commonwealth, he lived in Orange County where he worked for Wells Fargo Advisors in the operations department. In his free time, Mike enjoys the outdoors, watching movies, and spending time with friends and family. He is also an avid sports fan. His favorite teams are the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Patricia Garvey

Contractor - Retirement Consulting Services

Patti began working at Commonwealth in February 2014 as a retirement consulting services contractor. In this role, she oversees product development and ongoing enhancements related to key retirement plan products offered to Commonwealth advisors who manage qualified retirement business. She also oversees data architecture, data management, and associated product testing, and she serves as the point person for advisors using the tools offered by her team. Prior to Commonwealth, Patti worked at MFS and Sun Life Financial in a variety of management, business automation, and relationship management positions. Patti has bachelor's degree in economics.

Sheryll Yee

Retirement Consultant - Retirement Consulting Services - San Diego Team

Sheryll joined Commonwealth in January 2011 as a retirement operations specialist and in March 2015 transitioned to the Retirement Consulting Services team as a retirement consultant. In this role, she provides technical and strategic business support for advisors working with individual IRAs, employer-sponsored IRA plans, and employer-sponsored qualified plans. Prior to joining Commonwealth, Sheryll worked at First Allied Securities as a compliance summer intern and then for three years as a supervision analyst associate in the firm’s supervision department. Throughout college, she worked for a small broker/dealer as an office assistant. Sheryll graduated from Cal State San Marcos with a BS in marketing. Her interests and hobbies include music and spending quality time with family and friends. One of her goals in life is to travel, and although she hasn’t made any progress in that area, she hopes to do so soon.

Sophie Barrow

Retirement Consulting Services Associate - Retirement Consulting Services

Sophie began working at Commonwealth in September 2019 as a contractor in Retirement Consulting Services. In February 2020, she joined the team full-time as a retirement consulting services associate. In this role, she assists the team in managing its day-to-day activities, including performing administrative duties related to retirement plans and the Retirement Plan Consulting Program, as well as serving as a resource for advisors and their staff on the Retirement Plan Consulting Program, requirements, and workflow. She graduated from Saint Anselm College with a bachelor’s degree in economics and history. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, camping, skiing, and playing rugby.

Steve Kochis

Steve began working at Commonwealth in April 2003 as a transfer of assets analyst. In his current role as manager of retirement consulting services, Steve manages all department workflows and oversees the IRA consultants. In addition, he is responsible for the execution of and strategy behind the department’s policies and procedures, as well as for the continuous enhancement of workflows and overall service delivery. Previously, Steve supervised Retirement Operations personnel and managed associated product and service delivery. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a degree in history and holds FINRA Series 7, 24, and 66 securities registrations, along with his AIF® and CRPS® designations. In his spare time, Steve enjoys spending time with his wife and five children and is an active call/volunteer firefighter in his hometown.

Steven Johnian

Steve joined Commonwealth in April 2013 as a retirement operations specialist. In January 2015, he transitioned to the Retirement Consulting Services team and was promoted to retirement consultant in January 2017. In that role, Steve was responsible for providing technical and strategic business support for advisors working with individual IRAs, employer-sponsored IRA plans, and employer-sponsored qualified plans. In January 2020, Steve was promoted to supervisor, retirement consulting services. In this role, Steve is responsible for leading the team of retirement consultants and continuing to support advisors across the spectrum of their retirement clients. Prior to joining Commonwealth, Steve was at Putnam Investments, which he joined as an intern while attending UMass Lowell, and worked in client services, quality control, annuity services, and specialty services. Steve holds the FINRA Series 7 securities registration and loves to travel, read, work out, and cook. He is a former competitive boxer (starting at age 14) and has competed in the U.S. and overseas.

Thomas Crutchfield

Thomas joined Commonwealth in April 2012 and currently manages the team of retirement consultants who provide on-demand expertise and strategic business support for all Commonwealth advisors. He also plays a key role in the overall advancement of Commonwealth’s core retirement business through strategic business planning and collaboration with service provider firms. Thomas has worked in the retirement plan industry since 1987. He started his career as a retirement plan advisor and has since held various client-facing and management positions with Putnam Investments, Scudder Investments, Fidelity Investments, Diversified Investment Advisors, and New York Life, focusing on client strategy and product management. He also served as the director of financial planning programs at Merrimack College, where he managed all aspects of the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ curriculum. Thomas graduated from the University of Houston with an MS in finance and holds the CFP®, AIF®, PPC®, and CPFA designations. He and his wife, Lisa, live in Weston with their three kids—Scott, Shelby, and Everett.
